New York made the postseason in 2022-23 for the fourth time in the last five years. The Islanders just had their best points total in four years. And New York continues to build towards a return to the Stanley Cup Finals, a place it hasn’t been since its 1980’s dominance. The Islanders had eight different players score ten or more goals last season. Seven of them return for 2023. The pack was led by Brock Nelson, who had a career year in his 10th year. Defensively, New York was very solid last year. The team ranked 5th in goals against and had the second best save percentage. That was helped by Ilya Sorokin, who had a 92.4% save rate in 62 games. The Islanders, under head coach Lane Lambert, are capable of a deep run.
