Astros Spotlight

Current MLB Season

The Astros will look to put a tumultuous offseason behind them when they take the field in 2020, looking to win one more game than they did a year ago when they lost Game 7 of the World Series to Washington. Veteran manager Dusty Baker takes over for A.J. Hinch, who – along with general manager Jeff Lunhow – was fired in the wake of the team’s sign-stealing scandal.

While Gerrit Cole is gone, defending AL Cy Young Award-winner Justin Verlander returns, along with Zack Greinke, who came over last July in a trade with Arizona. Keep an eye on Lance McCullers Jr., who was showing promise in the rotation before missing last season with Tommy John surgery.

The offense is largely the same, as eight of the nine position players from 2019’s franchise-best offense returns, including George Springer, Jose Altuve, Carlos Correa, Alex Bregman, and... MORE

Past Spotlights

The 2019 Houston Astros didn’t repeat as World Series champions last year but there’s no reason not to believe they can’t win it this year. The Astros have one the most dynamic offenses in baseball led by stars like Jose Altuve, Alex Bregman, George Springer, Carlos Correa and new acquisition, Michael Brantley. With the Astros, it’s not just the offense though you need to be worried about, Justin Verlander and Gerrit Cole lead an excellent pitching staff.

The Astros are the favorites to win the AL West in 2019. In the offseason, outfielder Michael Brantley signed with Houston as a free agent. Brantley is a former MVP who will be excellent bat in this lineup. Bregman’s future is so bright, he could be holding an MVP trophy very soon. Filling out the starting lineup for A.J. Hinch will be Yuli Gurriel and Josh Reddick. The most notable loss to the lineup from year ago will be the departure of utilityman Marwin Gonzalez.

The pitching staff will be led by veteran Justin Verlander. Verlander has had a second wind to his hall of fame career since arriving in Houston. Gerrit Cole had his best season in his career with his first year with the Astros. Behind these aces will be Collin McHugh and Wade Miley. A big loss in the rotation will be Dallas Keuchel who left via free agency and an injury will sideline Lance McCullers.

The Astros play their home games at Minute Maid Park, an electrifying atmosphere for any baseball fan. Suites for the Astros will accommodate 12 – 20 guests on average. With a Minute Maid Park suite, you will receive VIP parking passes and be able to cater your suite in advance with premium food and beverage options. An Astros suite in 2019 could range from $4,000 - $7,000 depending on who the Astros are playing and where the suite is located inside Minute Maid Park. With a dedicated VIP entrance into the stadium, Astros fans experience the suite life the second they get to Minute Maid Park.

The Houston Astros enter 2018 with aspirations to repeat as World Series champions.  Last year the Astros defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers in a seven-game World Series for the ages. With every Jose Altuve home run or George Springer clutch hit, the electricity at Minute Maid Park only seemed to increase.

The 2017 World Series champs have no reason to believe they can’t compete for a World Series championship again in 2018. The reigning American League MVP, Jose Altuve, leads a young team that is hungry to win even more. With Altuve at second base and young studs Carlos Correa and Alex Bregman on the left side of the infield, Houston has one of the best infields in the big leagues. In the outfield the 2017 World Series MVP, George Springer, plays between Josh Reddick and defensive wizard Marwin Gonzalez. Gonzalez has played every position except for pitcher and catcher for the Astros. Last year the Astros led the majors in hits, runs, and total bases. Manager A.J. Hinch has plenty of assets at his disposal to carry over the success of this offensive juggernaut.

The two-headed monster at the top of the Astros’ rotation was instrumental to last year’s postseason run. Former Cy Young award winners Dallas Keuchel and Justin Verlander will both return for 2018 with their eyes on another trip to the World Series. With plenty of postseason experience now under their belts, expect improvement from Lance McCullers, Collin McHugh, and Charlie Morton as well. The January trade for Gerrit Cole should make Houston’s starting rotation even deeper.

Be sure to check out the defending champions at Minute Maid Park as they aim to repeat in 2018! Whether it’s the short porch in left field or the light pole in center field, Minute Maid Park is filled with exciting baseball. Luxury suites at Minute Maid Park accommodate groups of 14 – 20 guests. A private suite for an Astros game will include VIP parking passes and private entry into the stadium. Inside the suite, you can find first-class amenities such as HDTVs, upscale furnishing, a spacious floor plan, Wi-Fi and premium seating in and extended out of your suite. In-suite catering can be purchased at an additional cost in advance. An Astros suite attendant will also be on hand to help with all your game day necessities. Whether your suite purchase is for business or please, a Houston Astros suite is perfect for any occasion.
