Hawks Spotlight

Current NBA Season

The Atlanta Hawks are shaping up to be one of the Eastern Conference’s top teams. The Hawks have their dynamic duo in Trae Young and John Collins. Young and Collins form one of the league’s youngest and brightest tandems in basketball. The supporting cast of Bogdan Bogdanovic, Clint Capela, Rajon Rondo, Danilo Gallinari, and Kris Dunn give the Hawks plenty of weapons on both sides of the ball. With the Hawks first pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, the selected Onyeka Okongwu sixth overall.

State Farm Arena, formerly known at Philips Arena, is still fresh off a renovation to their premium seating locations. That included a new scoreboard, the addition of big-screen TVs at concession stands, plus new club areas and revamped suites. The most exciting premium experiences include Veranda Suites, which are all-inclusive, located on the lower level and designed with Southern... MORE

Past Spotlights

The Hawks parlayed their successful second half of last season with a productive offseason that has the team well-positioned for the future. Trae Young should develop quickly in this second season. John Collins took a big jump in his second season, averaging nearly 20 points and 10 rebounds a game, so he is also poised to improve even more this season. A mix of young and veteran additions like De’Andre Hunter, Cam Reddish, Evan Turner, Jabari Parker, and Vince Carter should lead to even more improvement this season.

State Farm Arena is entering year two following an extensive rehabilitation of the building formerly known at Philips Arena. That included a new scoreboard, the addition of big-screen TVs at concession stands, plus new club areas and revamped suites. These newer premium experiences include Veranda Suites, which are all-inclusive, located on the lower level and designed with Southern hospitality in mind. TopGolf Suites include all the bells and whistles of a suite and add a golf simulator! Zac Brown’s Social Club features Southern gourmet-style food and hand-made features crafted in his own craftsman workshops.

New perks this season for all fans includes free Wi-Fi throughout the building and, following in the footsteps of the Atlanta Falcons, fan-friendly pricing on regular concessions, including $1 chips, $2 jumbo pretzel, $3 bottled soda, and $5 on select beers.

With a transformed arena and an athletic young roster, 2018-19 will be an exciting year for the Atlanta Hawks. The newly renovated and renamed State Farm Arena is a fan first arena with brand new suite levels. On the court the Hawks will be led by fifth overall pick Trae Young, giving fans plenty of reasons to get excited about the Hawks this year.

Trae Young was the best player in college basketball last year at Oklahoma, leading the nation in points (27.4) and assists (8.7) per game. His unreal range from deep has inevitably drawn comparisons to Steph Curry, which is why expectations are high for Trae Young in Atlanta. Young’s flashy style of play will electrify the court night in and night out at State Farm Arena.

Joining Trae Young on the perimeter will be Jeremy Lin, Kent Bazemore, and Taurean Prince. Lin was acquired in a trade with the Brooklyn Nets, where he enjoyed a similar role in leading a group of young players. Jeremy Lin is always a fan favorite who will bring a team first attitude to Atlanta. Taurean Prince took a huge leap last season, which he will look to build off this year in his third professional season. Trae Young and Taurean Prince will be two important young players to keep an eye on in Atlanta this season.

Another young player the Hawks have high expectations for is John Collins, the second year forward out of Wake Forest. Collins showed tremendous potential as a rookie, averaging over 10 points and 7 rebounds per game while shooting 57% from the field.

With all the young talent on the roster, 41-year old Vince Carter might be the best story on the Hawks this year. Carter enters his 20th season in the NBA, continuing to build on his Hall of Fame career. In what will likely be Vince Carter’s last season, the Hawks will rely on his veteran presence to lead their talented young roster.

The atmosphere at the newly renovated State Farm Arena will be electric this season. Private luxury suites at State Farm Arena offer fans the ultimate sporting experience. Suites for Hawks games include 16 tickets, 3 VIP parking and premium in-suite catering options. An Atlanta Hawks suite will feature HDTVs, a wet bar, spacious floor plans, interior/exterior seating, and exclusive access to brand new VIP clubs and lounges inside State Farm Arena.
