Rangers Spotlight

Current NHL Season

After trading away much of their offensive and defensive core in 2018, the Rangers had a productive offseason that suggests the Blueshirts are ready to contend once more to give star goaltender Henrik Lundqvist, who is now 37 years old.

It started in the NHL Draft over the summer, when the Rangers selected scoring winger Kaapo Kakko, who is expected to pay immediate dividends with the club. Artemi Panarin (from Columbus) was the big free agent signing, and defenseman Jacob Trouba was acquired via a trade with Winnipeg.

Besides the 18-year-old Kakko, youth is on the Rangers’ side. Pavel Buchnevich scored 21 goals in 64 games, so a full-season’s production is expected out of him. In all, there are 13 players under 25 on the team’s opening night roster.

Past Spotlights

The New York Rangers continue to contend with the rest of the NHL's elite. The Rangers return a strong young core, including former Harvard standout Jimmy Vesey. Vesey will continue to grow into one of the premiere skaters in the league. Surrounding Vesey will be veterans Matz Zuccarello, Ryan McDonagh, and Rick Nash. Youngsters Chris Kreider and JT Miller will be counted on this season for additional scoring. Goalie Henrik Lundqvist is perennially one of the league's best. In 2017-18, the expectations are once again Stanley Cup or bust. Head coach Alain Vigneault helped turned the Rangers into a defensive powerhouse, now they must evolve on the offensive end.

Madison Square Garden is one of the country’s biggest stages for sporting events. Luxury suites at Madison Square Garden are hard to come by and offer the ultimate VIP experience. Rangers’ suites will include private restrooms, HDTVs, Wi-Fi, interior and exterior seating, premium in-suite catering options and a dedicated suite attendant. With a sky box at a Rangers game you will also receive exclusive access to VIP clubs inside.

The New York Rangers finished third in the Metropolitan Division in 2015-16 only to be ousted by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the playoffs. The Rangers return a strong young core headlined by prized off-season free agent acquisition, Jimmy Vesey. Vesey was a standout at Harvard and realistically had his choice of playing for any NHL team. The Rangers won the Vesey sweepstakes and he looks to be a huge factor this season. Surrounding Vesey will be veterans Matz Zuccarello, Derek Stepan and Rick Nash. Youngsters Chris Kreider and JT Miller will be counted on this season for additional scoring. Goalie Henrik Lundqvist is perpetually one of the league\'s best. King Henrik finished last season with 2.48 GAA; he will look to bounce back from a subpar year. In 2016-17, the expecteations are once again Stanley Cup or bust. Head coach Alain Vigneault helped turned the Rangers into a defensive powerhouse, now they must evolve on the offensive end.
