Knicks Spotlight

With a new head coach and an influx of young talent, the New York Knicks look like they are ready to turn a corner. Kristaps Porzingis will hopefully return from injury around midseason to help the Knicks make a surprise playoff push. Expect an exciting year of NBA basketball at Madison Square Garden this season.

New head coach David Fizdale is changing the culture in New York. His plan to bring the Knicks back to prominence begins with developing its young players, Kristaps Porzingis, Frank Ntilikina, and Kevin Knox. Porzingis is already a star and one of the most exciting young players in the league - he just needs to get healthy and continue to improve his game. Frank Ntilikina showed flashes as an elite defensive-minded point guard last year as a rookie, and he will look to expand his offensive game in 2018-19. As for Kevin Knox, general manager Scott Perry and the entire Knicks organization are very excited about what the rookie can bring to the table. Knox is an electric scorer who New York hopes will serve as the perfect complement to Kristaps Porzingis. The Knicks also hope for recent acquisitions Emmanuel Mudiay and Mario Hezonja to contribute this year.

Two players the Knicks will rely on heavily in Porzingis’ absence will be Tim Hardaway Jr. and Enes Kanter. Hardaway Jr. had a really solid 2017-18 season, which he will look to build off this year. Similarly, Kanter was terrific for the Knicks last season. His ability to score inside is an important part of his game, but where Kanter contributes most is with his rebounding. Kanter is an absolute monster on the boards, especially on the offensive end giving the Knicks countless second chance opportunities. Kanter’s relentless hustle and rebounding is inspiring to his teammates and the fans, often electrifying The Garden crowd. His bold and comical off-court personality is also what makes him a fan favorite at Madison Square Garden.

Past Spotlights

Madison Square Garden is one of the most iconic venues in the NBA and the Knicks look like they will be very good in the upcoming season. The New York Knicks added Derrick Rose, Courtney Lee and Joakim Noah in the offseason, which significantly boosted the talent level and excitement surrounding the Knicks. Rose is a former MVP whose athleticism and dynamic playmaking should bring the ability to break defenders down off the dribble to a Knicks offense that needed a little extra something. Both Noah and Lee are good defenders and quality role players that should fit in on a team that already has stars, both at present and for the future.

Carmelo Anthony is the established star and nine-time all-star. Anthony has uncanny scoring instincts and is one of the most dominant players in the NBA when healthy. To compliment Anthony the Knicks drafted one of the most exiting young players in the NBA, Kristaps Porzingis. Porzingis came into last years NBA season a relative mystery but he quickly proved that he has more than enough talent to be crowned MVP someday. With Porzingis and Anthony the Knicks could potentially compete to be a top three seed in the East this year.

The Knicks play at one of the most iconic venues in sports. Madison Square Garden offers multiple luxury suite levels including the Signature and Lexus Levels. The New York Knicks just missed out on the playoffs in 2013-14. Behind their star, Carmelo Anthony, they will look to get back into the postseason. Anthony re-signed with the Knicks this offseason for five years and $124 million. This will be Phil Jackson’s first full year as the Knicks’ President and he’ll get the season underway with a new head coach, Derek Fisher. Fisher steps into the New York spotlight as a first-time coach. He’ll quickly decide how he will handle rotating his three shooting guards: Tim Hardaway Jr., J.R. Smith and Iman Shumpert. The Knicks acquired Jose Calderon to run point guard. Madison Square Garden offers multiple luxury suite levels to watch the Knicks. It’s one of the premier venues in all of sports for luxury suites.
