In 2019, Orlando City SC will try to make the MLS Playoffs for the first time in franchise history. Expectations in the organization remain high regardless of a poor 2018 showing. Last year, a leaky defense plagued the club in route to an 11th place finish in the Eastern Conference. Nonetheless, the organization has proven relentless in trying to build a contender and this offseason was no exception. Management retooled the entire defensive line, parting ways with 7 veterans, and signing a number of young prospects. On offense, Orlando signed international star and ex-Manchester United player, Nani, to a 3-year deal. Also returning on offense will be two USMNT players, Dom Dwyer and Sacha Kljestan. Nani, Dwyer and Kljestan should provide a formidible offense with plenty of goal-scoring. If the new-look defense can show any improvement from 2018, Orlando City is primed to contend in the East.
