The Oakland Athletics' 2024 season marked the end of an era in the East Bay. On the field, the A's youthful roster endured another challenging year in the standings, but showed flashes of potential behind breakout performances from young players like Zack Gelof and Esteury Ruiz. The real headline, however, came off the field: 2024 was the franchise's final season in Oakland, as the team received MLB approval to relocate. In the fall of 2024, A's fans bid a bittersweet farewell to the Oakland Coliseum, celebrating its over five decades of history while looking ahead to a new chapter. The past few months have brought clarity to that future, the A's announced plans to temporarily play home games in West Sacramento from 2025–27 while their state-of-the-art Las Vegas ballpark is constructed. Although saying goodbye was difficult, the promise of a fresh start in a new city (with a competitive roster by then) has given the Athletics and their supporters reason to dream.

With the move on the horizon, the focus for Oakland's stadium experience has shifted to the future. The A's new Las Vegas ballpark, expected in 2028, is being designed as an ultra-modern venue with a retractable roof, plush premium suites, and entertainment options fitting for Vegas. In the interim, the club is transforming Sutter Health Park in Sacramento, a 14,000-capacity minor league stadium, into a suitable temporary home. Renovations there will update clubhouses and other facilities to Major League standards, and additional fan amenities are being added to ensure a comfortable experience. While the Oakland Coliseum itself did not see significant upgrades in its final year, the organization paid tribute to its loyal fans with special events and nostalgia-filled moments throughout 2024. Now, as the franchise transitions, A's fans can look forward to watching their team in an exciting new ballpark environment that will offer the intimacy of a close-up experience and the luxury of modern design, a combination that promises to be well worth the wait.

Oakland has enough pieces to be relevant in 2024. The Athletics' young infield core of Zack Gelof, Nick Allen, and Ryan Noda will continue to improve. Catcher Shea Langeliers smacked 22 homers in under 450 at bats in 2023. And outfielder J.J. Bleday, a high-rated prospect, enters his first full MLB campaign this year. On the mound, Oakland added Alex Wood and Ross Stripling. Those two join Paul Blackburn and JP Sears to round out the rotation. Despite two down years for the Athletics, don't expect the worst in 2024.

The Oakland Coliseum has plenty to offer. Gold Seating Areas give fans a wide range of amenities. Dugout Seats are right next to the action. Diamond Level seating includes complimentary food and beverage. The Field Box puts you right next to the players on plush seats. And Lounge Seats are located on the first base line. All Gold Seating Areas also have parking passes and in-seat food and beverage on flexible payment plans. For suites, Single-Game and Hospitality options are available. Single-Game's range from 4-20 guests and have parking passes, food packages, and elite locations. Hospitality Suites can fit up to 36 people and include similar amenities.

After just missing out on the playoffs in 2021 and doing so for each of the three seasons before that, things didn't go Oakland's way last year in a 60-102 season. But the A's have always been good at turning young talent into winners. One intriguing pickup was 28-year-old pitcher Shintaro Fujinami, who will be in the starting rotation. Top pitching prospect Ken Waldichuk is also worth watching after striking out a batter per inning in a brief stint in the majors. Young hitting prospects include 1B/C Tyler Soderstrom and infielder Zach Gelof, each of whom could blossom this season.

Since it became a baseball-only venue a few years ago, the Oakland Coliseum is trying to become more fan-friendly to the A's fans. The Terrace, Lounge Seats, and Coppola Theater Boxes are all popular choices, and traditional suites are, of course, available all around the venue. Mini suites that hold six to 12 people come with a snack package and include a private restroom. Club infield suites are behind home plate and down the third base line. They hold 16-20 fans, come with four parking passes, and include a Home Run Food Package that is stocked with ballpark favorites.
