The Patriots aimed to rebound in 2024 after a disappointing prior season, but the year proved to be one of retooling and modest improvement. Second-year quarterback Mac Jones displayed better command of the offense early on, but inconsistency and some injuries led to offensive struggles as the year progressed. New England’s defense, coached by Bill Belichick, remained tough and kept games close with a penchant for takeaways. The Patriots finished near the .500 mark but outside the playoff picture, leading to significant moves in the 2025 offseason.
