The Nationals overcame a slow start to the season and road games in winner-take-all scenarios against the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros to win the franchise’s first World Series title in 2019. Much of the lineup – including Juan Soto, Trea Turner, and Victor Robles – but they did lose third baseman Anthony Rendon to the Angels. Top prospect Carter Kieboom could see time at third base, and the Nats did sign Starlin Castro to a two-year deal.
The pitching looks as strong as ever, anchored by Max Scherzer and Stephen Strasburg. Sean Doolittle and Daniel Hudson will be relied upon to lock-down the late innings like they did in the 2019 postseason.
