Maple Leafs Spotlight

Current NHL Season

Toronto’s last seven seasons have all resulted in early postseason exits. The Maple Leafs are set to expel that and make a deep playoff push this year. Everything in Toronto starts with center Auston Matthews. The 26-year-old has cemented himself as one of the best in the league. He’s scored 40 or more goals in four straight seasons. Matthews has plenty of help in attack. Mitch Marner led the team with 99 points last season and put up 69 assists, tied for fifth in the NHL. William Nylander also was strong, scoring 40+ goals and assists respectively. And John Tavares has been a consistent threat in his 14-year career. With a strong defense behind it and veterans skating regularly, Toronto is ready for a title charge.

Past Spotlights

The narrative on the Maple Leafs is a team that can’t get out of the first round of the playoffs, but digging down further, there’s a lot to be excited about in Toronto for a club that should be able to get over the hump. The team had the second-best record in the Eastern Conference and led the first-round series 3-2 over two-time defending Stanley Cup champion Tampa Bay last year before losing Game 7 by a goal. Instead of blowing things up, the Leafs smartly kept the core of the team together. The Lightning was a team that had trouble getting over the hump, as were the Washington Capitals and Colorado Avalanche, and those teams have won four of the past five Cups. The Leafs return the core of Auston Matthews, William Nylander, Morgan Rielly, and Mitchell Marner. There will be a change in goal, as Matt Murray and Ilya Samsonov will battle it out for the top spot in net after the departure of Jack Campbell.

The suite options at Scotiabank Arena are befitting of one of the NHL’s premier franchises. You can catch a Maple Leafs game in style from just about any angle. Suites are available on the event level, in between bowls, and in the upper reaches of the arena. Platinum Suites come with seats right against the glass while the suite itself is by the players’ locker room. Suites in the 200 level circle the arena, and there are 400 and 500/600 level suites along the sidelines and ends of the arena. All give you access to premium in-suite catering, VIP parking, a private entrance to the arena, and access to exclusive club spaces.

The sting of yet another first round playoff exit may still linger, but so does the talent for a team looking for its first postseason series victory since 2004. Zach Hyman may have relocated to Edmonton, but the remainder of the top line returns in Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner, both only 24-years-old. Matthews is sizing up his 4th 40-goal campaign in his six NHL seasons while Marner has blossomed into a reliable point-per-night performer. The Leafs moved on from netminder Frederik Andersen, which pushes Jack Campbell into the starter’s crease. The former No. 11 overall draft pick is coming off a career year with a 17-3-0 record and a 2.15 goals against average. Recently-acquired goalie Petr Mrazek could push Campbell for minutes after enjoying a career resurgence in three seasons in Carolina. For the ultimate VIP experience at Scotiabank Arena book one of their famed Gondola Suites. The perfect setting for corporate get-togethers or family gatherings can accommodate up to 114 guests and includes tickets, food and drink, and a host to ensure a quality evening. For smaller gatherings, the Party Suite is a prime location, just 30 rows from the ice, for groups of up to 40. For those seeking top-notch service, the members-and-invite-only Sher Club is the pre and post-game destination spot.
