Everything was glorious for the Lightning going into the Stanley Cup Playoffs a season ago – a President’s Trophy, Nikita Kucherov would win the Hart Trophy, and Andrei Vasilevskiy would take home the Vezina. Unfortunately for the Bolts, the season came to a shocking end just four games into the playoffs via a sweep from Columbus.
Now with some unexpected rest and that embarrassment under their belts, the Bolts’ road to redemption for 2020 begins anew. Part of the team’s core was retained with the signing of Brayden Point, and winger Patrick Maroon was signed from St. Louis to give the team some more grit.
Kucherov, Steven Stamkos, Tyler Johnson, Ondrej Palat and a host of others all return as the Bolts’ window for greatness remains wide open.
