Islanders Spotlight

Current NHL Season

New York made the postseason in 2022-23 for the fourth time in the last five years. The Islanders just had their best points total in four years. And New York continues to build towards a return to the Stanley Cup Finals, a place it hasn’t been since its 1980’s dominance. The Islanders had eight different players score ten or more goals last season. Seven of them return for 2023. The pack was led by Brock Nelson, who had a career year in his 10th year. Defensively, New York was very solid last year. The team ranked 5th in goals against and had the second best save percentage. That was helped by Ilya Sorokin, who had a 92.4% save rate in 62 games. The Islanders, under head coach Lane Lambert, are capable of a deep run.

UBS Arena has fantastic luxury seating spaces. The UBS Club, Spotlight Club, Dime Club, and Hyundai Club are all high-end options. Food and drink in... MORE

Past Spotlights

After playing in the Eastern Conference Final in 2020 and ‘21, the New York Islanders had several frustrating factors out of their control lead to a difficult 2021-22 season: they played on the road for the first five weeks while UBS Arena was completed, and the team was hit hard by a COVID-19 outbreak. Despite not changing much on the ice, coach Barry Trotz was swapped out with top assistant Lane Lambert. Defenseman Alex Romanov was brought in to tighten up that part of the game, and the core of Mathew Barzal, Brock Nelson, Anders Lee, and goaltender Ilya Sorokin all return with the expectations of returning to the form of recent years.

The Isles return to UBS Arena for year No. 2 at Belmont Park, and there are several different suite options that await you at New York’s newest sports venue. Pitchbook Suites line the sides of the arena, UBS Club Boxes are in the end that the Isles shoot twice at, and Spotlight Suites are right at ice level. Catering options are available, and an in-suite attendant can also bring you food and drinks that you can order a la carte. The Spotlight Suites put you in the front row against the glass and also have a private cocktail bar and bartender service available.

After back-to-back trips to the Conference Finals, could this be the year the Islanders break through and bring Lord Stanley’s Cup back to the Big Apple? Captain Anders Lee returns after recovering from an ACL tear, as does a slew of supporting talent in Brock Nelson, Anthony Beauvillier, and Mathew Barzal, who led the team in scoring each of the last four seasons. New York made two massive veteran moves in the offseason, adding forward Zach Parise and defenseman Zdeno Chara. Parise is just seven goals away from hitting the 400 benchmark for his career while Chara finally gets to suit up for the franchise that drafted him way back in 1996. In terms of goalies, the Isles pack the best 1-2 punch in the NHL in the duo of Ilya Sorokin and Semyon Varlamov. Make the most of New York’s brand new $1.5 billion dollar facility with the premium options at UBS Arena. Check out slapshots from an opera-style box while attendant provide in-seat service from the UBS Club Reserve. The Spotlight Suites may as well be your own private speakeasy as a private mixologist serves you in an upholstered lounge area. The Belmont Suites come equipped with a custom minibar and stadium seats. Grab a drink and view the historic memorabilia lining the walls of the ultimate Isles sports bar, the Hyundai Club.
