Despite uncertainty over the future of guard James Harden, Philadelphia has the pieces for a playoff run. It starts with reigning NBA MVP Joel Embiid. The center averaged over 33 points and 10 rebounds last year, the second consecutive season Embiid led the league in points per game. Outside of Embiid, Philadelphia appointed championship coach Nick Nurse to take over for the departing Doc Rivers. Nurse should help further develop budding star Tyrese Maxey, who averaged over 20 points last year. Add in the signing of Mo Bamba and Patrick Beverley, the Sixers got depth. Those factors, coupled with a team that ranked third in opponent points last season, spell yet another competitive season for Philadelphia.
