Braves Spotlight

Current MLB Season

The Braves won the National League East in back-to-back seasons for the first time since the days of Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine, John Smoltz, and Bobby Cox. Now, they’ll try to take that next step to postseason success with much of the offensive and pitching core returning for 2020. An offense led by Freddie Freeman, Ronald Acuna Jr., and Josh Donaldson scored the third-most runs in baseball. Donaldson has moved on but was replaced more than adequately by Marcell Ozuna.

On the mound, NL Rookie of the Year runner-up Mike Soroka did receive some Cy Young votes and has the makings of a potential ace, and veteran Cole Hamels replaces veteran Julio Teheran in the rotation. The back end of the bullpen is full of depth with Shane Greene, Mark Melancon, and Will Smith.

The Braves’ new home in Cobb County also has a new name – SunTrust Park is now Truist Park, and... MORE

Past Spotlights

The 2019 Atlanta Braves look to make it consecutive years of making into the playoffs. The Braves took the NL East by storm last year winning 90 games. The NL East has shifted with the Nationals losing Bryce Harper and the Phillies signing Harper to a 13-year deal. The Braves feature some of baseball’s best prospects that are already making their mark on the Braves 25-man roster. With a few offseason additions, the 2019 Braves gear for what could be an amazing year.

During the free agency, the Braves signed former MVP Josh Donaldson and catcher, Brian McCann. Both McCann and Donaldson should hit in the middle of this lineup next to all-star, Freddie Freeman. Freeman’s been the anchor to this lineup for the past few seasons but with the emergence of Ronald Acuna Jr. and Ozzie Albies, the Braves could be one of the league’s highest scoring teams. Dansby Swanson, Ender Inciarte and Nick Markakis will round out the lineup.

The pitching staff has a ton of young talent from Mike Foltynewicz, Sean Newcomb and Touki Toussaint. The veterans are Julio Teheran and Kevin Gausman. This rotation has the chance to be the best in the NL East for years to come.

Entering its third year, SunTrust Park in Cumberland has become one of baseball’s premier venues. With roughly 40 luxury suites in the stadium and around 4,000 premium seating options, Braves fans can experience baseball in all sorts of VIP fashion. Suites for a Braves game will accommodate 12 – 32 guests. SunTrust Park has two types of suites: Infiniti Club Suite & the Champions Level Suite. The Infiniti Club suite will be the smaller of the two. Companies looking to entertain at a Braves games can have their suite fully catered in advance for ultimate entertaining.

The Atlanta Braves opened SunTrust Park last season with a relatively successful year on the diamond. The Braves improved to 72-90 while finishing 3rd in the NL East, a significant improvement from two years ago. Atlanta will look to build on last season’s improvement while developing their young prospects in 2018.

The Braves completed one of the stranger trades of the off-season in December, shipping Matt Kemp back to the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for Adrian Gonzalez, Scott Kazmir, Brandon McCarthy, and Charlie Culberson. Gonzalez was waived immediately, but Kazmir and McCarthy should play prominent roles in the starting rotation and Culberson will be a useful middle infielder to have on the bench. The loss of Kemp and slugger Matt Adams will take away some power from the Braves lineup, but there will be more opportunity for Atlanta’s young talent to get playing time.

Freddie Freeman remains the most consistent plug in the Braves’ lineup, providing a reliable source of power and contact at the plate. Besides Freeman, center fielder Ender Inciarte and catcher Tyler Flowers expect to be key contributors to Atlanta’s lineup. Expect shortstop Dansby Swanson, the former #1 overall pick in the 2015 MLB Draft, to take major strides this season after struggling for much of 2017. On the mound, Julio Teheran will look to replicate the success he experienced earlier in his career when he looked like Atlanta’s ace for the future.

2018 will be the Braves’ second season at SunTrust Park in Cumberland, GA. The $600M stadium has a seating capacity of just over 40,000 for regular season baseball games. SunTrust park has approximately 40 luxury suites yielding 4,000 premium seating options. Suites at SunTrust Park will feature first class amenities, VIP parking passes, premium interior/exterior seating, and in-suite catering options.
