Oilers Spotlight

Current NHL Season

The Oilers have the best player in hockey. That’s already enough to buy into Edmonton. Connor McDavid put up a career-high 153 points in 2022-23. He led the NHL in points by 25 over his own teammate, Leon Draisaitl. McDavid led the league in both goals and assists too, a rarity. McDavid is dominant, elusive, crafty, and reliable. Over the past two campaigns, the former No. 1 pick has missed just two games. Seeing McDavid on the ice is worth the price of admission alone. Outside of McDavid, centers Draisaitl and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins are elite options. Both had 100+ points in 2022-23, making Edmonton the only franchise that had three players eclipse the mark. The Oilers dynamic offense that recently ranked first in goals makes them a front-line contender.

Past Spotlights

Lead by back-to-back Hart Memorial Trophy winners in Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, the time is now for the Oilers to capture their first cup in 32 years. The highlight reel duo combined for 64 goals and 125 assists in last year’s truncated 56-game season. Newly acquired forwards Zach Hyman and Warren Foegele will add punch to this already highly flammable offense, and the addition of longtime Blackhawk and two-time Norris Trophy winning defenseman Duncan Keith should bolster the blue line group. Goaltending remains the biggest question mark for this franchise and the net once again belongs to 39-year-old Mike Smith or Mikko Koskinen. When it comes to the premium experience, it starts with Oil Country’s most exclusive club. Located at ice level, the Scotiabank Chairman’s Club provides an exclusive private lounge with all-inclusive premium food and in-seat beverage service. In search of a space to network for your business? PCL Loge Level is the ultimate mix of superior service and social interaction with either a table or ledge to look at the high-octane action. Theatre Boxes combine a refined event and dining experience while the ultra-modern Scotiabank Suites provide five-star service while the three stars of the game are decided.

New head coach Dave Tippett is charged with getting superstar Connor McDavid some help that can get the Oilers back to the playoffs. They’ll have to do it by improving on their defense, which was 25th in the NHL in goals against in each of the last two seasons. Andrej Sekera was brought in from Dallas to help solidify the blue line, and only 10 players are under contract into the 2020-21 season, so there will be plenty of space for more moves down the road. Defenseman Evan Bouchard, 19, is also in the pipeline, but he’ll be starting the season with the organization’s AHL club in Bakersfield.

Come see the league’s best player in McDavid at Rogers Place, which is entering its fourth season of operation, and you can take advantage of a number of premium experiences. Scotiabank Suites hold around a dozen people and, depending on the game, they come with a food and beverage credit. Catering is available for all games.

The Sky Lounge Loft is the best way to enjoy a large group outing, as it holds 52 people. You’ll get a great view of the game in your own dedicated section, along with all-inclusive food and dessert stations, two complimentary alcoholic beverages per guest, and even an exclusive gift. Table-style seating is also available for groups of four (or even just an individual) in the PCL Loge area.
