Hurricanes Spotlight

Current NHL Season

Carolina has appeared in the last five postseasons, a trend that shouldn’t change anytime soon. The Hurricanes have built a roster with clinical, deep, and clutch play. Twelve different players scored ten or more goals last season, headlined by Sebastion Aho and Martin Necas. Both tallied over 65 points, including 36 goals for Aho and 43 assists for Necas. Andrei Svechnikov, who missed time due to injury in 2022-23, won’t be ready for the start of this campaign. The forward will be a major factor once he makes his season debut. And goalies Frederik Anderson and Antti Raanta create a strong, consistent duo. Carolina got reinforcements in the offseason too, grabbing Tony DeAngelo and Michael Bunting, among others. The Hurricanes are certified championship contenders.

PNC Arena has fantastic luxury amenities. The Club Ledge and Club Seats include a full-service bar,... MORE

Past Spotlights

In just three years, head coach Rod Brind’Amour transformed a franchise with a decade-long postseason drought into regular Stanley Cup contenders. In terms of top-level talent it all starts with Sebastian Aho, who looked on pace to become a 40-goal scorer before the pandemic. His top line teammates both return in winger Teuvo Teravainen and former No. 2 overall draft pick Andrei Svechnikov, who inked an extension in the offseason. Fan-favorite Jordan Martinook also re-signed and Jesperi Kotkaniemi comes over from Montreal after signing an offer sheet. The Canes replace defensive scoring standout Dougie Hamilton with Ethan Bear and Tony DeAngelo to bolster a blue line group led by all-star Jaccob Slavin. All three of last year’s goalies may be gone, but Frederik Andersen and Antii Raanta should be more than just suitable replacements in net. What better spot to watch a “Storm Surge” following a Canes win than up against the glass? On-Ice and Center-Ice Premier tickets put you in a position where you can practically feel every check along the boards. For a view of the whole ice, try Club Ledge. Members can enjoy true Carolina cuisine in an exclusive lounge area and seating that come equipped with personal TVs. The Champions Club brings another all-inclusive luxurious setting with a 45-foot, full-service bar. Groups looking for a more intimate setting can try PNC Arena’s Loge Boxes or Suites. Both options come with a private bathroom.

The Carolina Hurricanes aim to return to the playoffs in 2019-'20 after an improbable deep playoff run last season. The 2018-'19 Hurricanes shocked the hockey world by beating the Washington Capitals in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs and then subsequently sweeping the New York Islanders in Round 2. The 'Canes eventually lost to the Stanley Cup Finalist Boston Bruins in the Eastern Conference Finals. Last season, the 'Canes energized the entire league with their team chemistry and impressive post-game on-ice celebrations. After being infamously chastised by old-school hockey personality Don Cherry as "a bunch of jerks", the 'Canes embraced their identity and it seemed to galvanize their team and fanbase even more. The Hurricanes return a talented roster this season led by young superstars Sebastian Aho and Teuvo Teravainen. Winger Andrei Svechnikov returns for his sophomore season. Svechnikov is a former #2 overall draft pick, so don't be surprised if he breaks out in season number two. On defense, Justin Falk and Dougie Hamilton form a solid first pairing. In 2019-'20, the league will be ready for the high-powered Hurricanes, so it won't be an easy task to repeat as Eastern Conference Finalists. However, the Hurricanes have a talented young roster and if their goaltending is adequate, they undoubtedly have the pieces to make another playoff run. The hockey market in Raleigh is rabid - it's certainly worth a trip to PNC Arena whenever you are in town!
