Rockets Spotlight

Current NBA Season

Houston continues to build towards a bright future. The Rockets had a strong draft, grabbing Amen Thompson and Cam Whitmore in the first round. Thompson, the fourth pick, shined with the Overtime Elite last year. He averaged over 16 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 6.2 assists. Whitmore, the 20th overall pick, is an intriguing prospect. With Villanova in 2022-23, he averaged 12.5 points and shot an effective 57.8% from the field. Both join Jalen Green, Jabari Smith Jr., and Alperen Sengun to create a young Rockets core. And, to add veteranship, Houston signed Fred VanVleet in the offseason. The guard is an NBA champion and averaged over 19 points with Toronto last campaign. The Rockets will be a fun one to watch this season.

Past Spotlights

It’s tough as a fan to go through a team that’s in a rebuilding process, but the Houston Rockets should see solid gains from its young core because it’s getting so much playing time. Head coach Stephen Silas seems to be a good fit for this group that includes Jalen Green, Kevin Porter Jr., and Jae’Sean Tate. Trading Christian Wood gives the team cap flexibility moving forward, and drafting Jabari Smith out of Auburn with the third-overall pick was also a great move for the future. Veteran Eric Gordon will also provide on-court leadership.

See this young club grow and maybe surprise some people while enjoying a luxury suite experience at the Toyota Center. Executive suites are on two levels of each baseline, and the Loft Suites are behind one of the baskets. The Sky Box (aka Penthouse Suite) holds large groups (100 to 200 guests), comes with 12 VIP parking passes, all-inclusive catering package, and bar and lounge areas where you can post up and watch the game.

“Rebuilding” may be a term that makes hardcore basketball fans cringe, but as the Rockets attempt to erect a new foundation, it should be fun along the way. The foreman of this new construction job: second overall draft pick Jalen Green. The McDonald’s All-American skipped playing college ball, signing instead with the G-League where he averaged nearly 18 points per game. Houston stayed busy in the first round of the draft, selecting Usman Garuba and Josh Christopher at picks 23 and 24, while acquiring the rights to 16 th overall selection Alperen Sengun from Oklahoma City. Late bloomers Jae’Sean Tate and Christian Wood also proved to be valuable assets last season, with Wood averaging a career-best 21 points and 7.8 rebounds per contest. Be sure to catch all the action inside the Toyota Center from one of their Luxury Courtside Suites. An elevated view complemented with food from a pre-selected chef’s menu equals the perfect night for family, friends, or clients. The best view in the house, Courtside Seats, comes with a full private bar, VIP Parking inside the Toyota Tundra Garage with covered skybridge entrance, and access to Courtside Clubs, Lexus Lounge, and Golden Nugget Club.
