Baseball excitement in Seattle is back, as the Mariners made the playoffs for the first time since 2001 last season, snapping the longest postseason drought in the four major pro sports. After upsetting Toronto in the Wild Card round, the Mariners’ run came to an end thanks to division rival and eventual world champion Houston. There’s plenty to look forward to as an encore as well in the Emerald City. The M’s offense, already featuring the dynamic Julio Rodriguez and Eugenio Suarez, was augmented with Teoscar Hernandez, Kolten Wong, and A.J. Pollock. Luis Castillo and Robbie Ray are an excellent 1-2 punch to top the pitching rotation, and the bullpen has plenty of high-leverage options with Paul Sewald, Andres Munoz, and Diego Castillo available.
