Petco Park Event Planning Guide

Catering

Stock a Padres suite with your favorite food and drinks in advance to the game. Not all San Diego Padres suites will include catering. For those that don't, Padres suite guests will pre-order off the suite menu. On average, most people spend around $90 per person on in-suite catering at Petco Park.

Parking and Transportation

San Diego Padres luxury suites will often include VIP parking passes. The Petco Park suite and VIP lots include the Lexus Premier Lot on Imperial Avenue, the Padres Parkade(located on 10th and J Street) and the Tailgate Lot(located on K Street). Ride-share is also available nearby the ballpark.

Budget

San Diego Padres luxury suites cost between $3,500-$6,000 on average. Padres suites vary in price depending on the opponent, day of the week and size. Some Padres suites come inclusive of catering while others won't. So, factor in catering costs in advance as that charge won't occur until game day.

Dress Code

There is no formal dress code for being in a San Diego Padres suite. It's best to dress comfortable. Many Padres suite guests will be wearing their favorite Padres fan gear. Corporate groups are typically dressed in business casual attire. Suites will have coat closets for storage.

Venue Bag Policy

Soft-sided bags that measure 16" x 16" x 8" or smaller are permitted into Petco Park. All bags and containers are subject to inspection by security prior to entering the ballpark. This applies to all guests including those with a San Diego Padres suite ticket. No outside food or drinks allowed.

Entrances

Petco Park gates open 90 minutes prior to first pitch. There are 2 designated San Diego Padres luxury suite entrances: Home Plate Gate and Park Boulevard Gate(first base next to Main Box Office). Padres suite ticket holders can access the ballpark via any gate including the Lexus Home Plate Club.

Child Ticket Policy

Children under 36” tall do not require a separate ticket to enter the stadium. All children taller than that will need a ticket even if a parent is in a Padres suite. Padres luxury suites provide a private space for families entertaining with small children. Strollers are permitted at Petco Park.

Padres Spotlight

Current MLB Season

San Diego’s disappointing 2023 shouldn’t affect expectations for this season. The Padres are here and ready to compete at the highest level. Despite trading Juan Soto, San Diego uses talent across its roster. An offensive core of Manny Machado, Fernando Tatis Jr., and Xander Bogaerts isn’t something to take lightly. Infielders Jake Cronenworth and Ha-seong Kim are other options that round out the lineup. And on the mound, the Padres added Dylan Cease and Michael King, among others. San Diego shouldn’t be taken lightly in 2024.

Petco Park has plenty to offer for luxury seating. The Cutwater Agave Club, which debuts in 2024, is field-facing and has a private bar and restrooms, access to a lounge, fully cushioned seats, semi-inclusive food and beverage, and more. Areas like the Blue Shield Home Plate Club and Gallagher Chairman’s Club are other options. Both provide an... MORE

Past Spotlights

After a disappointing 2021, the Padres went even further all-in by acquiring outfielder Juan Soto’s rights through at least the 2024 season. That gamble paid off with a wild card berth and series wins over the Mets and rival Dodgers before falling to Philadelphia in the NLCS. The Padres didn’t settle with that, adding shortstop Xander Bogaerts from Boston along with Matt Carpenter and Nelson Cruz to a strong offense that will also get Fernando Tatis Jr. back after a year and a half off due to injury and a PED suspension. The Padres will still be looking to supplement the back half of a pitching rotation that features Yu Darvish, Joe Musgrove, and Blake Snell, but the back end of the bullpen with closer Josh Hader and setup man Robert Suarez is one of the strongest duos in the game.

Petco Park, located right in San Diego’s bustling Gaslamp Quarter, is one of the best settings for an MLB game. With pre- and post-game options covered, get the most of your time in the park with a premium offering at Petco Park. There are five clubs that are attached with seats in several great locations like behind home plate, down the first and third base lines, and just beneath the press box. Western Metal Suites are located in the Western Metal Supply Co. Building in left field and offer balcony seating for larger parties. Terrace Suites are located throughout the stadium, and Tower Loft Suites are built into the light towers on either side of the ballpark and feature expansive views.

The San Diego Padres thought they were set up for success last year, but injuries and some underperforming pieces led to some tweaks for 2022, including the signing of manager Bob Melvin, who led Oakland to several playoff appearances. Fernando Tatis Jr. will be out for the first part of the season due to injury, but enough power remains in Manny Machadeo, Jake Cornenworth, Wil Myers, and Eric Hosmer (along with newcomer Luke Voit from the Yankees) to keep the Padres above water in the NL West. The pitching is also expected to be better with the rotation led by Yu Darvish, Blake Snell, and Joe Musgrove. Also keep an eye on MacKenzie Gore, one of the team’s hottest pitching prospects who could make some noise this year.

A night out at Petco Park, right in the heart of San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter, can’t be beat. The Coronado Club by Cutwater opened last year and comes with views of Coronado Island behind the ballpark and luxury loge box seats along the third-base line on the field. The club features complimentary food and non-alcoholic drinks, and a private bar is available for adult beverages. In addition to traditional luxury suites, try a Compass Premier Club Loge Box. These were renovated in 2019 and come with fully cushioned seats, in-seat food and beverage service, and access to the Gallagher Chairman’s Club when you need to cool off.
